Hello, my name is Souad Lahmidi, originally from Morocco. I am the Community Relations Director of Outreach Program Canada (OPC). Professionally, I am a graduate with BA in Linguistics with distinction. I have over 15 years of extensive experience in individual and organizational capacity building. I am committed to supporting families, individuals, and communities in reaching their fullest potential. Working at Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS), I have moved from different positions, over the years, from Settlement and Integration Counsellor to a Settlement Liaison and now as a proud Francophone Team Lead. The collaborative work between Calgary Police Service and CCIS called SORCe, Safe Communities Opportunity and Resource Centre where I worked as Settlement Liaison, gave me the skills to develop a strong sense of devotion for the community support and a deeper appreciation for how non-profits operate. At SORCe, we help to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable population in Calgary and beyond. Outside of work, I have been actively volunteering with my two teenage sons’ sports activities. This is where I bring out the dynamic side of me. I love helping their sports group in fundraising operations to help and support their financial needs. Getting involved gives me even wider opportunity to help in my own local community. For this reason, I joined the OPC because I believe that giving can feel just as good as receiving! I am looking forward to seeing OPC one day achieve an incredible amount of grants, major gifts from stores and acquire stable donors because, I honestly believe, “Strong Charities means Strong Community”.
